Dear Nevi-cat

As I was leaving your apartment tonight, I nearly ran over a prostitute turning tricks 10 feet from your doorstep. You might consider moving to a new neighbourhood, or at least making some dough by renting out a room.

Two other strange things happened today. First, as I was driving home from work, a guy watering his lawn turned and sprayed my truck full on for no reason. I had to use every bit of mental strength I had not to go totally postal on the guy. Then, later on, at a stop light, some lecherous old bastard pulled one of those licking your lips and mouthing something obscene tricks. Again, I nearly lost my shit.

Otherwise all is well….

Tabs...I can't talk long. Just coming up for air. Ben had to come out of his mom on Monday. We went for a third trimester ultrasound and found out that he had failed his test. Not a lot of fluid in there....placenta decided to stop working. He came out Monday night and they figure he is at 28 weeks even though she carried him for 32 weeks. He is in ICU but he is doing well in terms of breathing and heart pumping. He is cute but hooked up to lots of things and he is getting photo therapy. We have been crying for days and will continue I guess....sArah is doing as well as she can be, I am trying to be strong for her. He is a preme, but I guess that is obvious. The pediatricians seem to be great and the nurses who watch over him are very nice and caring. Wanted to let you know...please keep us in your prayers. If the little guy doesn't do better, they said they will have to send him to tertiary at McMaster or London. All for now.

My Darlings Rolo and Sarah,

I am overwhelmed by this news. I have tried to call, but can't seem to find the right number. I can imagine how crazy things are for you right now. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. But if that little Ben is anything like his papa, I'm sure he's got that gene of resilience and strength. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to give a hand in this time. I know we're far, but there isn't much I wouldn't do for you.

Stay strong. I love you guys,

Val

Dear Rolland and Sarah,

I've been on call and just had this news. I tried calling but, not supringly, you weren't at home. Rolland, if you have a cell can you email me the number?

I can't begin to tell you how my heart goes out to you both. I've asked the big man upstairs to pay some extra attention to this case.

Cry as much as you need, but stay strong. As Pesto points out, Ben's got genetics on his side, and 2 solid parents who love him.

Please call if I can do anything. I could probably get away for a few days if you need any help at home. Don't hesitate.

I am excited to meet Ben. I'm sure he's beautiful.
